Day 1 Bahir Dar - Lake Tana Island Monasteries
Boat trip on Lake Tana from Bahir Dar. Visit Kebran Gabriel Monastery (men only), a 14th-century monastery with the Famous Four Gospels manuscript. Continue to Zege Peninsula, walk through shaded coffee plantations. Visit Ura Kidane Meret Monastery (open to men & women) with beautiful biblical wall paintings and a small local museum. Return to Bahir Dar. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 Lake Tana Remote & Historic Monasteries
Full-day boat excursion on Lake Tana. • Visit Daga Estefanos Monastery (men only) - burial place of Ethiopian emperors, historic religious artifacts, hilltop views. • Continue to Narga Selassie Monastery (men & women) - built by Empress Mentewab, 18th-century wall paintings, peaceful island setting. • Return to Bahir Dar. • Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 Tana Cherkos - Birdlife - Bahir Dar City
Boat trip to Tana Cherkos Monastery (men only), the oldest monastery in Ethiopia linked to the Ark of the Covenant. See ancient Judaic sacrificial stones. Enjoy bird watching around Lake Tana. Return to Bahir Dar. Flight to Addis.
